Two Los Angeles swingers clubs have been holding parties at a remodeled warehouse near Los Angeles Airport. This past week, tragedy struck as the owner of the premises was shot to death, and the building torched. The Daily Breeze, a local Los Angeles area newspaper, reported this incident on July 29, 2010.

A former bondage (and swingers) club employee fired for "creeping" out the patrons was charged Thursday with shooting his boss to death, killing the man's dog and setting fire to the building near Los Angeles International Airport. David Edward Albert, 53, of Simi Valley pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in Inglewood court to single counts of murder, arson and cruelty to an animal. Commissioner John Johnson held Albert on $2 million bail and ordered him to return to court Aug. 24. If convicted, Albert faces 25 years to life in prison.
Albert is charged with shooting Passive Arts Studio owner John Lavine several times in the head, then starting the fire in the building at 10914 S. La Cienega Blvd. in Lennox. The fire was reported about 11:35 a.m. Tuesday. Lavine's charred body was discovered inside, along with the body of his dog, Koda. Deputies found Albert hiding in the bushes across the street from the fire. His clothes were bloody, but he claimed he was hit by a car while running across the street toward the blaze. Deputies said his injuries were not consistent with being run over, but it was unknown how he was injured.
Lavine fired Albert about a week earlier. Albert worked at the club as a janitor. "We have an indication that he was let go because apparently some of the customers said he was creeping them out," sheriff's Lt. Don Slawson said. “It was not clear what he was doing.”
The body of a man in his 50s was found today at the scene of a fire at Passive Arts Studios, a bondage (and swingers) club in Lennox. Firefighters sent to 10914 S. La Cienega Blvd. at 11:35 a.m. put out the fire in about 20 minutes and then found the body according to county fire Inspector Fred Stowers. The address is near LAX Parking Lot B.
According to Passive Arts Studio's MySpace page, its 7,000-square-foot warehouse was "the largest, most elegant and best-equipped play area in the nation." The club catered to people interested in sexual fetishes involving bondage, discipline, dominance and submission. The club included seven dungeons and theme rooms, a torture chamber, a bar and a dance area.
