“Top 5 Small Luxury Cruise Ship”
Condé Nast Traveler, Reader's Poll (2011)

The m/s Paul Gauguin was designed specifically to sail the shallow seas of Tahiti and French Polynesia, visiting small ports that larger ships can’t reach and effortlessly blending into the stunning natural beauty of the South Seas.

She offers an extension of the informal, relaxing environment of the islands, coupled with five-star service, comfort and luxury. Spacious suites and staterooms (more than 70% with private balconies), an onboard watersports marina, a choice of three open-seating dining venues and an extensive spa are among her luxurious attributes.

The atmosphere aboard ship radiates warmth, informality, and Polynesian flair. And our beloved troupe of Gauguines—a local Tahitian group who serve as cruise staff, entertainers and storytellers—add the unique personality of Tahiti to every cruise.

Day 1 Embark the m/s Paul Gauguin in Papeete, Tahiti (Society Islands):
The islands of Polynesia are a gorgeous collection of volcanic islands and atolls strewn lazily across the grand Pacific Ocean. The island of Tahiti proper is the largest of the 118 islands and atolls that comprise French Polynesia. Papeete, the modern capital of Tahiti and her islands, contains government offices, hospitals, banks, and many other services dedicated to serving the islands, as well as guests who come to these islands for a life-enriching experience. You’ll embark The Gauguin here this afternoon and have time to settle into your cabin before dinner onboard later in the evening. The ship will set sail tonight.

Day 2 Huahine:
Your first port of call is Huahine, known as “The Garden Island” for its lush rainforests and dramatic terrain. While here, you can cruise the expansive lagoon, explore the island’s culture, or picnic on the beach.

Day 3 Raiatea:
You will have the day to explore the island that was once the cultural, religious, royal and political heart of Polynesia, and, according to legend, and lore, as well as Tahiti's most significant archeological sites. Ancient Polynesians built maraes, or temples, of stone in many sizes. The maraes provided a physical space for the spirit of the gods to occupy during ritual ceremonies, as did the carved wooden tikis for which the region is famous. Be sure to visit Taputapuatea, a national monument and the most important marae in the Society Islands. We will bid adieu to Raiatea just before dinner and set sail with the compass set for Motu Mahana.

Day 4 Taha’a (Motu Mahana):
Motu Mahana, an islet adjacent to Taha’a, is our very own South Seas paradise, featuring white-sand beaches with swaying palms, crystal-clear waters, and gentle breezes. As an exclusive Paul Gauguin event, you will spend a full day on this idyllic island doing exactly as you please. Relax in the shade of a palm tree … engage in a game of volleyball … snorkel in the motu’s turquoise lagoons … and enjoy a delicious al fresco barbecue lunch with Polynesian entertainment.

Day 5 Bora Bora:
You have two full days to explore this magical island on your own. Perhaps you’ll relax on our exclusive, private beach on a motu just off the island. Or take your pick of optional shore excursions: circle the island by waver unner or jetboat … traverse the interior by off-road safari … enjoy a romantic overnight escapade at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa … and so much more.

Day 6 Bora Bora:
Bora Bora’s lagoon is constantly replenished with ocean water from the swells that crash between sandy motus and over the lagoon’s fringing reef. The dive instructors at The Gauguin’s onboard watersports marina make it easy even for novices to enjoy an optional SCUBA diving excursion in a matter of hours. You can also discover the charms of the lagoon while swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and more.

Day 7 Moorea, Society Islands:
Covered in an abundance of fresh fruits and flowers, spectacular mountain peaks, peaceful multi-hued lagoons, and palm-fringed beaches, Moorea features a magnificent beauty that is unsurpassed. White-sand beaches lapped by the translucent shimmering lagoon water and shaded by palm, coconut, and ironwood groves stretch for miles. During your visit, you might wish to take an optional air-conditioned coach ride around the island to admire the stunning views.

Day 8 Papeete:
Disembark The Gauguin this morning and transfer to the airport for your flight home. Or stay on with an optional hotel stay.
