Great ideas always seem to get copied. Well, that's what's happening to us. You decide. Should we be honored or annoyed?
We started Dream Pleasure Tours in December 2007, our website was up and running in December 2008 and by March 2008 we were taking orders. It was a great feeling. We were in business. But we were new kids on the block. We’d started Dream Pleasure Tours because we’d heard that changes were needed in the lifestyle and swingers vacation business. Lifestyles Tours & Travel® had just filed for bankruptcy and customers were arriving at resorts only to find the money they had paid to Lifestyles Tours & Travel® was never paid to the resort. We heard that some companies didn’t provide personalized service, weren’t available by phone most of the time, and didn’t really offer many groups. We heard some travel agents didn’t cooperate with each other, wouldn’t sell each other’s trips, and did a lot of things that didn’t do anything to improve customer experiences.
So, we started Dream Pleasure Tours with a vision. That vision was to build a better travel experience. Yes you can book online, but we’re available early morning till late in the evening, seven days a week, if you want to call us. We put online chat on our website, to make it even easier for customers and potential customers to contact us. We went out in the field, going to trade shows, swingers clubs, swinger’s conventions and other events to talk to our customers, and get to know them.
We made a point to work with other travel agents and event organizers. We helped sell trips that are organized and sold by our competitors and we still do. It wasn’t all about making money; it was also about offering our customers the most travel options possible, whether it’s swingers cruises such as the Couples Cruise or the Shoes Only Travel cruises, SDC cruises, Desire Resort, Hedonism II, Caliente Caribe or Naughty in N’Awlins. We even sold that event at Hedo in November whose organizer won’t let us put their name on our website (don’t ask—long story.)
The results? It paid off. Our business has grown dramatically and every year and we are now sending hundreds of people every month to great resort and cruises, and we think we’re one of the largest travel agents for swingers, nudists, clothing optional travel and lifestyle vacations, in business. We have thousands of satisfied customers and look forward to serving thousands more in the years to come.
But how do we really now we’ve arrived? Well, as the saying goes, “Imitation is the highest form of flattery.” And boy, are we being flattered. Take a look around at some of the websites out there. Our name has been “Dream Pleasure Tours” since the day we started business. But check out some of our competitor’s websites. You’ll find the phrase Dream Pleasure Tours all over the place. One of our competitors even has on their website, “So ... What's your Dream Pleasure Tour?” I guess they think that by putting our name on their website, some of you might be fooled into thinking that’s our website. We’ll we don’t think our customers are that stupid, or that gullible
Some of our competitor’s websites have even pulled paragraphs we’ve written about our groups tours, word for word, to put on their websites. We find it laughable. Because at the end of the day, you can copy our website, infringe on our trademarked name, steal copyrighted material off our website, but you’ll never be Dream Pleasure Tours.
Why? It’s all about attitude. Yes, we want to make a profit. But this business for us is not about getting rich. It’s about people, and relationships, and taking care of our customers, and making friends. We think that when we do the right things, we’ll make enough money to pay our bills, and have a lot of fun along the way.
So if you see Dream Pleasure Tours or something we have written appearing on another website, give it a chuckle. Recognize we’re being copied because it’s easier to copy someone else than building a business, one customer at a time, well treated. And remember why they copied us; it is because we’ve taken the lead in improving service and ensuring customer satisfaction when some other companies in this business were taking their customers for granted.
Of course, if you do come across our name on another company’s website, you just might want to think about the ethics and morality of that company. When push comes to shove, will they do the right thing for their customers? Or will they do something that’s a little shady and suspicious, like stealing a trademarked name? You decide. We’ll be right here, taking care of our customers as we always have, with the best prices, the best service and the best selection in the business.
