Did you see the 20/20 episode on mermaids?  You know, those fictional creatures of the sea that are half woman-half fish?  Well real life mermaids do exist, and while the ones on 20/20 aren’t half fish, they don’t seem to be all human either.  Take Hannah Fisher and Linda Wolbert.  These ladies can free dive to almost 100 feet under the ocean, swim with all sorts of creatures of the sea from minnows to whales, and hold their breaths for as long as five minutes.  Of course, mermaids tend to be beautiful with long flowing hair and voluptuous bodies (at least above the tail), and spend their time spreading love and making our fantasies come true.  Sound just like a Dream Pleasure Tours vacation!

Now Darlene Grimes, an entrepreneur and lover of nature and all things mermaid, has launched the Mermaid Sanctuary project. She describes her project as follows:

Welcome Mermaids of the Oceans and Land-Walkers of the Earth. We are building a Mermaid Sanctuary in Belize right next to the edge of the second largest barrier reef in the world, and the Blue Hole. Mermaids have a high function to introduce love, sensuality, gratitude and appreciation and they need our help now. They are weapons of mass attractions - to bring our attention to this issue. -A clean one world ocean! The Mermaid Sanctuary campaign funds are not spent in frivolous ways like some of the land-walkers campaign funds! They will go to creating the manatee preserve, the sea horse breeding ranch and the swimming with the Mermaids attraction on an island we will purchase in Belize. The Mermaids will lure thousands of cruise ship vacationers to the sanctuary to see the lost civilizations of the sea. As the Mermaids and Mermen are swimming with the vacationers, they will sneak in education about preserving their One World Ocean. And $1 of every $5 goes to the Coral Reef Alliance and Green Reef.
