A vehicle and guide from Rekero Tented Camp will be waiting for you at the airstrip ready for the 30 minute drive into camp. The route passes through game areas all the way, so you may choose to take a little longer and make a game drive of it along the way.Masai Mara National Park: This is the section of the greater Serengeti ecosystem which lies on the northern side of the Kenya /Tanzania border. The area is of course best known for its massive wildebeest and zebra migration, around 1.5 million large herbivores combined into one enormous lawnmower. The migration is drawn into this northern area during the dry season months August to October by the presence of permanent water in the Mara River and its tributaries. This camp is in an absolutely prime game- viewing location, on the broad grasslands and close to the confluence of the Mara and Talek rivers, this is where much of the main migration action takes place August to October and the best spot for major river crossings. You will see tens of thousands of animals in a 3 day period. There will be waves of Giraffes, Elephants, Zebras, Lions, Cheetahs, Wildebeests, often in close proximity to the camp.
By choosing this camp your organizers are positioning you for the best chance of witnessing one of the greatest spectacles of the migration; a mass crossing of the Mara River. This is where 10’s of thousands of wildebeests. Zebras, antelope, springbuck, and other grazers pile up at the bank of the river and are forced by sheer numbers to cross a crocodile infested river. This phenomenon occurs several times during the period between August and October with the greatest likely hood occurring in late September.
Group 2 (8 Couples + group leader) Rekaro Naboisho Conservancy Camp
(Rekaro camp requires proof of a valid Travel insurance policy that names each individual & includes emergency medical evacuation clause)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVRMvK-HrNA
A vehicle and guide from Rekero Tented Camp will be waiting for you at the airstrip ready for the 90 minute drive into camp. The route passes through game areas all the way, so you may choose to take a little longer and make a game drive of it along the way.
The 50,000 Acre Naboisho Conservancy: This area is comprised of northeast sector of the Masai Mara National Reserve; it provides an exclusive safari experience. The land includes contributions from over 500 Masai landowners and conservancy fees are directed back to these landowners, providing them with a sustainable livelihood and it remains untarnished by heavy tourism. By financially supporting the landowners and the surrounding communities, Naboisho Camp celebrates a spirit of "coming together" - the Masai definition of the camp's name.
The 9 tents at Naboisho Camp emulate hotel suites set in the middle of the vast plain. Safari-chic accommodations are appointed with plush fabrics and ample living space, with modern bath facilities that include both indoor and open -air outdoor shower options, double-basin sinks, and flush toilets. The camp is anchored by a lounge tent and dining tent where guests enjoy gourmet family-style meals, place set with fine linens and glassware and moments of respite between game drives and activities. The staff specializes in inventive dishes with bush breakfasts, picnics, and evening sundowners providing a more private dining experience
The wildlife includes lion, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, wild dog, and a host of plains game. The camp’s recent establishment and the new presence of game vehicles is still a curiosity for the wildlife, making interactions inc redibly special and intimate. Masai guides lead expeditions on foot and by vehicle into the wilderness. Naboisho has special permits allowing night drives as an additional option, one of only a few in east Africa. This Conservancy has the highest densities of lions in Africa. One of the major prides, comprised of 22 lions, makes its home nearby the camp. There are also an impressive number of elephant, giraffe, and other plains animals, in addition to hosting some of the rarest animals in Kenya, such as Wild Dog. The Mara Naboisho Conservancy also limits the number of tourists who may enter the area, thereby reducing the crowds of vehicles. Guests often find themselves the only vehicle around, giving spectacular, unspoiled views of exciting wildlife. This Camp is among the finest in all of Africa and requires reservations well more than a year in advance for periods during the great migration.
Day 6 Masai Mara Each group switches camps for days 6 to 9 Group 1 Goes to Rekaro Naboisho Group 2 Goes to Rekaro Confluence
