My partner and I went to Caliente Caribe during a time when few go because it is off season. The resort met all our expectations and much more. The staff was friendly, well-trained, and unintrusively attentive. The lodging, dining, pools, grounds, dining area was absolutely clean. The food was fresh, healthy, abundant, and nice variety. Whatever you want to drink, is available and made to specifications.
This was our first clothing optional experience. Initially, we hung out nude mostly around the porch area at our bungalow and then slowly became more adventurous. Some never seem to put clothes on while others were nude only around the pool or beach. The freedom to be naked without concern of judgement or shame was an experience I wish for everyone.
If you are at all interested in having this kind of experience this is a wonderfully safe, secure place to feel free.
Just having returned from our fifth trip to Caribe, we can say it continues to be one of our favourites. A new chef has resulted in a real step-up in quality and presentation of the food. The staff continue to be the heart of the resort. Patricia is back as part of the management which is a real plus.
The guests continue to be a diverse group of friendly people from many parts of the world, resulting in a variety of interesting conversations. Not a resort for the younger party crowd, but more a place to recharge. If you are going, check the "group" weeks lists if you wish to avoid the lifestyle crowd. (Two minor examples of inappropriate behaviour were noted, but addressed promptly by management during our visit.)
We plan to return at least once more in 2010.
Visited Caliente Caribe the last week of January 2010. There were not a lot of guests there, about 30 in all. We booked the Seacliff room and it was spacious and quiet, except for the fridge which made a lot of noise going on and off. The ocean view was fantastic. You can walk all along the cliff and watch for whales in the Atlantic. Some telescopes would be great in that area.
The staff is very friendly at this resort. If you take the time to talk to them you'll be on a first name basis in no time. The service was the best we've had in the caribbean. Patricia and Fernando are the managers, and very attentive they are. They are also very good with the staff. It felt like being with family.
The beach is small, and you will need water shoes to get in and out. The snorkeling is pretty good, though the coral is covered with sand. There is a volleyball pool as well as beach volleyball available, though it is hard with so few people to get teams together.
As a clothing optional resort, this is the best. Very laid back and quiet, with beautiful natural surroundings and respectful staff. It's easy to get into the mode. Hot tubs at two different locations offer a warm up if the breeze gets a little brisk. Most people dressed for dinner at the main restaurant, though it's not mandatory. Lots of the girls got into the theme nights too.
We plan to return next year. It was great!
